Liner notes:

Tony:
The 95-demos are from our first year as a band, and was selected from rather bad quality cassette tapes. Total experimentation in high school. During my time in the army in 97/ 98, I wrote the music for Devilry and Temptation in my time off duty. The result gained us a record deal.

Ole:
We recorded the ''Devilry...'' demo sometime during the summer of 98.
By then we had recorded 40 songs but never really bothered sending anything to anyone.
We just listened to it when getting drunk and such...
I guess listening to the demos functioned as a substitute for not hanging out at a rehearsal room. Anyways... I met Metalion, the founder of Head Not Found outside Elm Street in Oslo after the infamous Mayhem gig in 98 and in a drunken state of mind asked him if he wanted to sign a damn good band. He said yes and I sent him the ''Devilry...'' demo and we signed a deal for three albums.
I also sent a copy to Samoth and his Nocturnal Art label. He replied with kind words on the overall quality but wanted us to be more evil so I never bothered writing back...

Winds of Sorrow est l'une des multiples facettes de l'artiste néo-zélandais Mort et aussi l'une des plus brèves puisque seul Through Twilight... naîtra sous ce patronyme. Mort part d'un bon concept, à savoir créer un doom metal/dungeon avec une emphase sur ce dernier, mais voit trop grand en visant le format de l'album alors qu'une démo était suffisante. Les atmosphères gothiques et parfois folkloriques sont envoûtantes mais couvrent trop une voix qu'on finit par oublier. Un album sympathique. Jordan Vauvert
